Africatown Digital Storython

On June 10th Africatown will host a 3-day Digital Storython where we aim to inspire the next generation of black storytellers and content leaders. This event will be hosted Peabody Award winning Journalist Brit Moorer along with other industry professionals! Youth will learn the anatomy of building and producing a story of a local black business!

Students will be trained to synthesize digital technology with foundational media arts training that will expose them to the innerworkings of today’s multifaceted journalism careers. Participants will collaborate with media professionals to create educational content for delivery via digital channels. The summer program will give students hands-on production experience with Africatown Seattle and partners’ media platforms.

  • June 12 6-8 p.m.  @ Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute: 104 17th Ave S.

The 3-day journalism bootcamp will be hosted by Peabody Award Winning artist Brit Moorer and will provide students with the curriculum, training and applied skills to produce a story.

The goal of the Africatown Digital Storython is to synthesize digital technology training with media arts education and career path exposure for middle school and high school students. Participants will collaborate with media professionals to create educational content for delivery via digital channels. The summer program will give students hands-on production experience with Africatown Seattle and partners’ media platforms.

This is a fun opportunity to capture the stories of our everyday community members who make the Central District a thriving space for the City of Seattle residents & visitors.  All students who will be in 6th – 12th grade in Fall of this year are invited to apply. If you have any additional questions please email wgc@africatownlandtrust.org and we will assist you.  Upon completion of the three day program, all student participants will each be awarded a $100 giftcard.
